WHO meets Gates

Bill Gates, self-professed optimist, addressed the World Health Assembly in Geneva this week, highlighting the plight of the world's poorest countries.

He spoke of the "tragic, incredible inequity between the health of the people in the developing world and the health of those in the rest of the world". And to prove he's not an all-mouth-no-trousers kind of guy, he has more than doubled the resources for the Health Foundation he created in 2003, to a cool $450 million.
